These are tough times for Britain’s pubs – CAMRA has said that 28 pubs are closing ‘unnecessarily every week – and here in Twickenham another one bites the dust. The Old Anchor on Richmond Road has served its last pint. A while ago there were rumblings that a mini supermarket could supersede the boozer. It’s flats that seem most likely now although, as @oliverlangston pointed out on Twitter, a proposal submitted to the Council has been refused planning permission.
