Ahoy Twickertypes! El Brute are giving away cash! It was probably originally your cash but it’s cash nevertheless. Why? It’s part of their Community Fund programme which had previously been titled the Village Planning Fund. The Council has allocated £550k to support local community projects across the borough and you, dear reader, get to have a vote on which of those projects should receive a slice of that wonga.
Voting is now open and runs until Friday 13th July. You have nine projects from across the Borough to choose from.
The three in the Twickenham area are:
- To turn the open space around Whitton Church into a village green for the benefit of the whole community.
- To improve the nature trail on Crane Park Island by installing oak information posts, a wheelchair friendly path, adding better maps and improving the pond dipping platform. And if you’ve never had a wander around the Island Nature Trail then you really should go. Now. It’s accessed by the shot tower in Crane Park. Here’s more about the island from London Wildlife Trust and from FORCE.
- To build a new extension to provide better kitchen facilities at the ETNA Centre in Rosslyn Road, East Twickenham. The ETNA Centre provides space for community groups to meet and run courses. We’re talking yoga, pilates, music, drama, kids classes and more. It is run by the East Twickenham Neighbourhood Association hence the name.
Other nearby projects after your votes are for a new pavilion for Teddington Cricket Club, funding to provide support for ‘the Bungalow’ at MTV South in Hampton and support the final phase of ‘A place to go’ at Hampton Hill United Reform Church. Projects in Ham, Petersham and Barnes complete the shortlist of nine.
