ice-cream-van-twickenham-twickeratiYou’ve probably noticed the little adverts in the right hand sidebar of this website. You have? Marvellous! Crusader Travel, Milestone Commercial, Moores Cycles and, this week, the return of They’ve all very kindly chipped in to support the charity Shooting Star Chase in return for some profile on the site. We hope a few others will follow too. In case you don’t know Shooting Star Chase, they’re a children’s hospice service caring for families with a child or teenager with a life-limiting condition. They operate across London, Surrey and West Sussex and have a very strong local presence with a hospice just down the road in Hampton. Here at twickerati HQ we’re fundraising for them as part of our assault on the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon. That’s right, your humble correspondent will be taking part in the Royal Parks Half this very Sunday. And not in the ice cream van either, oh no! In this instance actual legs will be employed to get around the course. The objective? Smash the twickerati HQ all-comers half-marathon record by over two whole minutes.

Although we’ve focused on local businesses as part of our efforts, we’ve not restricted donations to the business community. Yes, real people have been kind enough to donate too. And now we get to the crux of it…

If you enjoy this site and want to be a bit, well, Twickenhammy by donating to an excellent charity doing important work locally then we’d be delighted to take a few of your English pounds off you. The links below will tell you what you need to know.

Thanking you kindly, Twickenham.

  1. And how about this from Last Try Wines (aka @lasttrywines on Twitter). Donate £10 to this appeal and in return get 2 free tickets to their Meet the Winemaker event with South Africa’s Painted Wolf Wines at the Cabbage Patch on Thurs 3rd. Starts at 7.15pm.

Up to 5 pairs of tickets available. Make sure you add “LTW” in your donation message and get in touch with them to arrange tickets either on Twitter or by posting back on here. (We think this will work as long as you don’t leave it until the very last minute!)

    The Just Giving Page:
    The event:

(Terms & conditions apply if we can think of some. Err, over 18s. One pair per donor. 5 pairs up for grabs. Pay first, tickets after. That kind of thing)

  2. Run, twickerati, run…..

If Twickenham’s generosity is not yet exhausted, I am running it as well for Railway Children (my firm’s charity partner). A link to that fundraising page is below.

Finally, a shout out for @RachFL7 who is also running for charity. Follow on Twitter to see her fundraising page.

I think the only guarantee is that I will be slowest of the Twickenham Three….
