Schoolgirl Dies After Playground Accident

An eight year old schoolgirl died after a playground accident on February 14th. The Richmond & Twickenham Times reports the sad news of how Freya James, who attended Trafalgar School in Twickenham, died after an incident in the school’s playground. The paper quotes the coroner’s officer as saying that, “While playing in the playground, Freya collided with another pupil and fell to the ground within the vicinity of wooden railway sleepers”. After this she was given first aid at the school but her condition deteriorated and she was taken to West Middlesex Hospital where she died later that afternoon. An inquest has been opened.

The paper’s print edition includes warm tributes to Freya from her family, friends and from the school.

My daughter attended Trafalgar, and after an accidental fall, she is scared for life! The playground is too small and not safe; hindered by many potentially dangerous obstacles. Heart felt condolences to Freya’s family.
