Flipping Comments!

Hold the front page! Here’s some twickerati news. We’re now trialling having the most recent comments displayed first (a la BBC & Daily Telegraph sites) as opposed to what we had previously where the most recent comments on any story were shown last (a la Richmond & Twickenham Times and Guardian sites).

Better? Worse? Bovvered? It’s your view that counts. And who knows, if you’re really lucky, it might even be taken into consideration. No further questions, your Honour.

  1. I much prefer newest first.

I think that newest on top is best, so that you don’t have to wade through all the old ones already read to find the new.

I like it. Keep up the good work.
Poor old Nick E’s still going to have to go all the way to the bottom of the page to make a comment though, poor thing!
To satisfy Chris Squire perhaps you can arrange for all of his comments to drop to the bottom of the pile!!

  4. Just leaving that comment to be top of the list for a while 😉
What tends to happen now (e.g. youtube, yahoo, imdb etc…) is that the 2-3 comments people like the most come first. You already have a thumb up/down system to rate comments so it may be possible.
After that I prefer most recent first.
Some sites even hide comments that are too poorly rated… but I can’t imagine people leaving offensive comment or spam on Twickerati, we are too well behaved, aren’t we?

  5. My strong preference is for the status quo = oldest first, keeping this post at its rightful place, the top. Then it is clear when a post comments on or replies to an earlier post.
